Christy Turncliff was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and has been singing since the age of 2. This can be proven by her parents many recordings of her singing "Country Roads" on tape. She has been singing professionally the last 10 years. Her background in music started with learning to play piano at a young age and continuing into her teen years with The Royal Conservatory of Music. However, her true love was singing which she would do after everyone left the house. Out would come that big, loud voice and the walls would shake. In her later years a friend of hers suggested (strongly) that she enter a karaoke competition at the local legion. Christy ended up getting second in this competition but by then she had got the performing bug. Her sister figured she needed to keep going and organized a jam group. This group continued on into a band that played together for the next six years called Dekades. Also during this time she entered a solo contest with the Hard Rock Casino. Out of approximately 200 applicants she ended up with second place. After Dekades broke up she took a break for about a year but soon realized that not singing wasn't going to work for her so she joined the band Playlist. They were performing at casinos and corporate events around the greater Vancouver area. Then Christy met up with singer songwriter Ken McCoy and the chemistry between them was a perfect match. The two of them formed what is now Turncliff McCoy.
In 1985 Ken quit his job and hit the road playing music. He has never looked back. To date, he has written hundreds of songs and recorded and released numerous singles to radio that hit the charts in several countries including Canada, Europe and Australia. Ken has written, produced and released 5 full-length projects. In 2004 Ken released "Prayin' for Rain" donating 100% of the sales of the CD single and airplay royalties to the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
Ken performs everywhere from fairs, festivals, rodeos, one niters, clubs, casinos, corp shows and special events. With over 20 chart hitting singles released to radio to date, countless nominations and awards including SOCAN songwriter of the year and single of the year for “Prayin for Rain”. Ken's latest project an acoustic Americana album called Dead End Road Kid features 14 new original songs.
Ken has now teamed up with Christy Turncliff to form the act Turncliff McCoy and is currently writing for a new project for 2021. He continues to write and record and tour.
